HOW DO I BOOK A TRIP?

Please check our calendar for availability.
If you don’t
find the dates that you want available, please contact us as
sometimes we do have some cancellations and we might be able
to accommodate you.
A non refundable $500 deposit (payable by check only) for
securing your dates is due upon reservation. Half of the money
is due 2 weeks after reservation and the other half upon arrival.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
The $500 due
upon reservation in non refundable. If you cancel 6 months in
advance, half the money will be reimbursed. If you cancel 3 months
in advance, there will be no reimbursement.
HOW MANY ADULT LEADERS DO I NEED FOR THIS TRIP?
A minimum of 2 adult leaders per trip; one which must be over
21 and another over 18. If you are a co-ed trip, a male leader
and a female leader is required.
WHAT REQUIREMENTS DO I NEED IN ORDER TO BE AN
ADULT LEADER ON THIS TRIP?
We require that at least one of the
adult leaders have CPR/First Aid. Please check with your local
scout council for additional requirements.
WHICH FORMS DO I NEED TO HAVE THE PARENTS/GUARDIANS
SIGN?
Each participant must fill
out a liability waiver and a medical form found in the need to
know section of this website. If participant is under 18, a parent/guardian
must also sign the forms.
HOW LONG IS THE TRIP?
The trip is on average
5.5 days.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I GET THERE THE DAY OF DEPARTURE?
You should get here at 11:30am for a departure around noon.
WHAT TIME DO WE RETURN ON THE DAY OF ARRIVAL?
We
will return at 2pm. We suggest that you don’t try
to fly out the same day you arrive. Plan to stay at a local hotel
that day if your budget allows. It will make your trip more enjoyable.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY SNORKELING EQUIPMENT?
You
need to bring a mask, a pair of fins and a snorkel and a yellow
snorkel vest (USCG required). Please note that if you wear prescriptions
glasses you need to get a mask with prescription lenses. We strongly
recommend getting familiar with your gear prior to the trip by
making sure that is in working conditions.
WHERE DO WE GO DURING THE TRIP?
Where
we go during the trip depends totally on the weather. We will
be exploring the ocean side (Atlantic Ocean/Florida Straits)
and the Bay side ( Gulf of Mexico). Every trip includes; some
fishing, some snorkeling, some sailing, some island explorations.
HOW OLD DO YOU NEED TO BE TO PARTICIPATE IN
THIS ADVENTURE?
You need to at least 13 years of age by the time
your trip is scheduled.
WHAT IF I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS?
Please
let us know what dietary needs you may have. You can accommodate
mostly everyone. In case of major needs, we ask that you bring
what you need.
WHAT IF MY TRIP GETS CANCELLED DUE TO A HURRICANE?
Hurricane
season begins June 1 and continues through November 30. In the
event of extreme weather conditions, the captain will make the
final decision regarding whether to continue with the adventure
or seek shelter on the mainland. In the case of cancellation
due to extreme weather conditions, fees will be refunded based
on the percent of the programs cancelled.
Sunshine Coast Adventures is not able to refund any fees related
to meals, lodging or transportation incurred as a result of an
evacuation. These expenses remain the responsibility of the participants. We
strongly recommend trip insurance to cover your travel expenses.
DO I NEED A FISHING LICENSE?
No. You don’t
need a fishing license. It is included in the price.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER GOING TO BE LIKE?
Seasonal
Weather Patterns
Winter and Spring
temperatures vary from 50°F possible
in the evenings, to 80°F during the day, with varying wind
speeds and a humid climate. Water temperatures in winter dip
to 72°. A wool shirt under a rain jacket is advisable during
chilly, wet days on the water. In clothing preparation,
please keep these factors in mind. Hypothermia is a potential
concern during this time of year on the water.
Summer temperatures vary from 85°F to 95°F night and
day, with high humidity and light breezes, and afternoon rain
squalls. The water temperature averages 84° in summer. Concerns
are to dress cool, have rain protection and sun protection.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

DO I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SWIM WELL?
Yes. Everyone
will be required to perform a swim test. If you fail the swim
test, you will be asked to wear a lifejacket for the entire time.
